About Montgomery Blair High School

Montgomery Blair High School (MBHS) is a public high school in Montgomery County, MD. With an enrollment of close to 3,600 students, Blair is the largest school in both the county and the state!

The school is named for Montgomery Blair, a lawyer who represented Dred Scott in his U.S. Supreme Court case, and who later served as Postmaster General under President Abraham Lincoln. Opened in 1925 as Takoma Park–Silver Spring High School, the school changed its name in 1935 when it moved to Wayne Avenue; that building is the present site for both Sligo Creek Elementary School and Silver Spring International Middle School. In 1998, Blair was moved to the Four Corners area of Silver Spring.
