The Howard Lions Ice Hockey Team is one of the original teams in Howard County to play for the Maryland Scholastic Hockey League (MSHL). Since then, the Lions have had many successful seasons; winning six county championships and advancing to the MSHL tournament semifinals four times.
In 2016, Howard fielded a Junior Varsity team. The JV team exists to provide new players equal playing time against like-skilled opponents. The JV team's focus is on fun and skill development.
The Howard teams are composed of a diverse group of players, both male and female, some having many years of experience and others just starting out in the game. Many also play on local club teams from the recreational to the AA travel level.
