Connor Eady notched a goal and two assists to lead the DeMatha Stags to a 5-2 victory over Bishop O’Connell Friday night at Medstar Capitals Iceplex in Arlington. With the win, DeMatha is now tied with O’Connell atop the MAPHL standings with 10 points each.

Eady got the Stags on the board first with a goal at 5:51 of the opening period. The sophomore took a pass from Ryan Olson and wristed a shot past Knights goaltender Ian Kee from just below the left face-off circle. Ryan Salb gave DeMatha a two-goal lead at 1:20 of the second period before Garrison O’Donnell’s shot from the point snuck past DeMatha netminder Matt Peterson during a power play nearly three and a half minutes later to cut the lead in half.

Kee kept it a one-goal game with several big saves during a DeMatha power play mid-way through the second period. However, the Stags’ Colin Licavoli struck just seconds after the Knights’ successful penalty kill.  Eady picked up the only assist.

The Knights drew within one again at 10:08 of the second when Brendan Fielman took a pass from Ben Gibbons, skated in alone on Peterson and wristing a shot over the goalie’s glove hand.

An errant O’Connell pass led to Jonathan Matta increasing the Stag’s lead at 3:37 of the third period. Eady earned the primary assist, while Brandon Metheny also notched an assist.

Olson’s one-timer from the high slot, off a feed from Licavoli at the half-wall, closed out the scoring for DeMatha at 10:05 of the period, sealing the Stags’ 5-2 victory.

Kee faced a whopping 43 shots by the Stags, making 38 saves, while Peterson saw 12 shots and saving 10.
