The MAPHL family was saddened to learn of the passing of Steve Malley Sr.  on Friday afternoon, May 27. Steve was a tremendously giving and caring man. He was one of the pioneers in the promotion of high school hockey in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area. While his son, Steven Jr. attended DeMatha, Steve began his push to get local hockey players recognized regardless of what team or level they played by holding numerous seminars and hosting countless meetings and phone calls with families wanting their kids to play hockey at the next level.

Steve Malley Sr. epitomized what it meant to be a gentleman with great character and moral standards. Hundreds of men and women played college hockey at a variety of levels  because of the guidance and education of Steve, including many of the coaches that have coached or still coach in the current Mid Atlantic Prep Hockey League.

Steve Malley Sr. is survived by his wife, Lynn, and son, Steve.
