The #1-seeded Gonzaga Eagles were paced by Connor Tait's four goals in their 8-3 victory over #8-seed St. John's, while the #4-seed DeMatha Stags overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat #5 Calvert Hall. Both games were played at The Gardens Ice House in Laurel on Tuesday afternoon.

After Gonzaga raced out to a 4-0 lead, St. John's scored two goals in the final two minutes to get within two at the first intermission. Tait and John Cardellicchio each scored two goals in the first, while the Cadets got goals from Cole Maner and Alan Long.

Tait made the score, 5-2, with a shorthanded goal in the second, but Griffin Long got the Cadets back to within two at 3:28 of the third. They would get no closer as Tait got his fourth of the day, followed by goals from Matthew Massaro and Chase Vallese.  Gonzaga's Ian Kilcullen and Jack Sanborn each had three assists in the game.

Calvert Hall's Patrick Regan and Brennan O'Brien staked the Cardinals to a 2-0 lead after one period, but DeMatha's Max Morgan got the Stags on the board in the second period.

Collin Mercier tied the game for DeMatha on a short handed break away just past the midway point of the third period and Caleb Travis gave them their first lead of the day about three minutes later.  John Henrici Jr. provided a two-goal cushion at 13:28 of the third and Patrick Malloy scored with Calvert Hall's goalie pulled for an extra attacker with .02 second remaining in the game.
