GONZAGA'S CHASTAIN AND IRBE RECOGNIZED FOR COURAGE, ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Gonzaga senior defenseman Henry Chastain was recently named ABC-7 TV's High School Athlete of the Week. Chastain has been battling Cystic Fibrosis since the age of one. Despite the disease, which severely affects the lungs, Chastain has overcome his illness and has been a four-year starter for the Eagles. He is also a starting defenseman for Gonzaga's lacrosse team and has received a scholarship from the University of Maryland to play lacrosse.  To see the video story, CLICK HERE.

Also, Gonzaga's volunteer goalie coach, Arturs Irbe, who enjoyed a 22-year career in the NHL and in leagues in Europe, was honored over the weekend by the San Jose Sharks during the team's 25th anniversary celebrations. Irbe was a member of the Sharks from 1991 to 1996 and backstopped the team to their first playoff appearance in 1994. He also played for the Dallas Stars, Vancouver Canucks and Carolina Hurricanes. To see video, CLICK HERE.
