LANDON CAPTURES MAPHL CHAMPIONSHIP WITH 3-2 OVERTIME VICTORY OVER CALVERT HALL

Tommy Crittenberger scored his second goal of the game with 1:27 left in overtime to give Landon a 3-2 victory over Calvert Hall in the MAPHL AA championship game at The Gardens Ice House in Laurel on Feb. 24.

Landon held a 2-0 lead deep in the third period before Calvert Hall stormed back with goals from Ivan Yuryev at 8:23 and Ryan Dieter with only a minute and 23 seconds remaining on the clock.

Both goalies--Jack Concannon for Landon and Mike Finn for Calvert Hall--made spectacular saves in the first period to keep the game scoreless. Concannon faced 28 shots and made 26 saves while Finn made 37 saves on 40 shots.

Crittenberger broke the scoreless game with a goal at 4:26 of the second period and Nico Kenary made it 2-0 with 1:27 left in the second.

This is Landon's third MAPHL championship in the last five years. The Bears won back-to-back championships in 2011 and 2012. Calvert Hall lost in the championship game for the third straight year.


Landon defeated Calvert Hall, 3-2, in overtime to capture the 2015 MAPHL AA Championship on Feb. 24 at Laurel.
