When Mason Widener transferred from the Carroll County Bears to the Washington County Northstars for his sophomore season of high school hockey, he knew he had something to prove to his new coaches and teammates.

Widener earned the role as the Northstars’ starting goalkeeper and has impressed since the first puck drop of the season.

On Wednesday night in a 7-2 victory over Oakdale at the Hagerstown Ice & Sports Complex, Widener celebrated a milestone he never knew was coming.
